Auch wenn man bei Afghanistan oft zuerst an Wüsten und karge Berge denkt, gibt es im Osten und Südosten des Landes ausgedehnte Nadelwälder. Die Stickerinnen selbst haben nie eine Tanne gesehen. Uns hat dennoch animiert, die Sicherheit zu gewinnen, dass wir dank des Weihnachtkults solche Motive gut verkaufen können — ehrlich gesagt!

Même si l’on associe souvent l’Afghanistan aux déserts et aux montagnes arides, il existe de vastes forêts de conifères dans l’est et le sud-est du pays. Les brodeuses elles-mêmes n'ont jamais vu de sapin. Pourtant, nous avons été encouragées par la certitude que, grâce au culte de Noël, nous pourrions bien vendre de tels motifs — pour être tout à fait honnête !

Even though Afghanistan is often first associated with deserts and barren mountains, there are extensive coniferous forests in the east and southeast of the country. The embroiderers themselves have never seen a fir tree. Nevertheless, we were motivated by the certainty that, thanks to the Christmas tradition, we would be able to sell such motifs well — to be honest!
