The embroiderer Marina from village Kâkârâ

Marina is a refugee in her own country. She fled 2016 with her family — her husband and children — from Masar-a- Sharif, to escape the Taliban. In their new home they can expect more security. Her husband, however, has been unable to find work, unemployment in Afghanistan reaching 80 %. Marina was introduced to the programme and, after a brief test, accepted. She has many innovative ideas and a great love for detail, which she executes meticulously. Her embroidery feeds her entire family.

Thanks for your patience, all of Marina’s embroidery has been sold, we hope to be able to offer new ones in spring.
