HAND in HAND

Hands… giving, taking, asking, praying, speaking, showing, greeting, caring, pampering, and so much more. They are both violent and delicate, they can be shaped artistically, they create art.

In German, the expression "Hand in Hand" can refer to a concept that doesn't exist in either English or French. It can mean that someone has started something that is continued or completed by another person. In this case, the title perfectly suits the embroidery program, whose concept involves an Afghan woman beginning the creative work and a European woman or man continuing it. Another possible interpretation is the common one in other languages: Working together, striving for a common goal.

The exhibition "Hand in Hand" presents 47 textile works, each measuring 0.6 m². Every design incorporates at least one embroidered hand from Afghanistan, thus forming collaborative works, a bridge between cultures.

The exhibition is available for loan.
