Susanis and flowers

This exhibition presents 5 ancient Susanis (wall hangings from Uzbekistan), whose embroiderystitch is the romanian stitch. This particular stitch, pokhtadusi in Farsi, is mainly performed by the embroidery women from Parwan. Contemporary Susanis from our embroidery program, based on printed fabrics, offer a striking contrast. A serie of quilts with incorporated floral embroiderymotifs makes visible how flowers there and here find favor.

This exhibition can be loaned and combineted with the exhibition "a Tulip is a Tulip is a Tulip".
