Embroiderer: Simingol
Simingol’s squares were among the very first to arrive from Afghanistan. Although she finds it difficult to stick to the size of the squares and her stitches are rough and irregular, her work is extremely expressive. In the course of the project there are continuous changes and developments as the embroiderers are constantly experimenting. While technical improvement is desirable, sometimes the expressive originality of the work suffers as a result. As the work develops there may be good or bad surprises yet the joy and excitement remains.
